The Working Group on Social Dynamics and Energy Transitions aims to examine the social dimensions of energy transitions and their impact on social structures. Energy transitions are not only a technological and economic transformation but also a social process that creates fundamental changes in the ways of life of individuals, groups and societies. This working group, with a strong focus on social justice and equity, analyzes the social impacts of energy policies by investigating the effects of energy system transitions on social acceptance and participation, fostering a sense of empathy and understanding among its audience.
By assessing the impacts of energy transitions on different socio-economic groups, the working group's research leads to a deeper understanding of the link between these processes and social acceptance and resistance. The group's practical outcomes include addressing critical social issues such as energy poverty, just transition, and access to energy for disadvantaged groups. Their recommendations on making sustainable energy policies more inclusive and equitable in the social context directly apply to the real world. The group's work, which also contributes to the creation of sustainable energy systems, offers hope and optimism for a future where energy transitions are efficient, socially just, and equitable.
