Doç. Dr. Jens
RØYRVIK

Adjunct Senior Researcher

Jens Røyrvik works as a Senior Researcher at NTNU Social Research and Associate Professor at the dpt of Anthropology (NTNU). He holds a Cand. Polit. and a doctorate in social anthropology, both from NTNU. His thesis for the PhD deals with the oil industry's conquest of nature which is now the basis for the anthropology-of-technology initiative at the Department of Social Anthropology. The main theoretical and philosophical focus of his work is related to techno-logical articulation, with a philosophical anchoring in Heidegger's study of technology, Marx's machine theory, Johansen's determination of the boundary and Larsen's study of entification as a phenomenon.

Areas of expertise can be described as technology-anthropology, organizational anthropology, ontology and epistemology, phenomenology, learning and ICT and generally qualitative research. In addition to research and teaching work, he has certified himself as a control room operator for NASA, in order to work with plant experiments on the International Space Station (ISS) and based on this research on control room operations in other fields as well. The main focus in recent years has nevertheless been in the energy field, a field he leads at NTNU Social Research. Here he has both prepared, been in the management of, and contributed as a researcher to several EU projects, in addition to large nationally funded projects and research centers.
